One kind of assisted reproductive technology is In vitro fertilization, or IVF. It’s an infertility treatment, a condition in which the majority of couples attempt for at least a year without success. Using IVF, it is also possible to prevent genetic problems from being passed on to a child. IVF is the process of extracting eggs and getting a sample of sperm, then physically merging an egg and sperm in a lab dish. The embryo or embryos are then inserted into the uterus through the vaginal canal.
The Purpose of IVF
In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a treatment option occasionally used for infertility in persons over 40. If you suffer from certain medical conditions, you can also do it. For example, IVF may be an option if you or your partner have:
Impairment or blockage of the fallopian tube.

After IVF Treatment
You may be advised to rest the whole day following the embryo transfer, even though most women can resume their normal activities the next day. Progesterone injections or tablets may be required for women undergoing IVF therapy to take every day for seven to nine weeks after the embryo transfer. This hormone aids in the uterine lining’s preparation for the embryo’s attachment by encouraging the embryo’s growth following implantation. Progesterone is typically given for 8 to 12 weeks after pregnancy to prevent miscarriage.
A pregnancy test will be used at our facility 12 to 14 days after the embryo transfer to determine whether a patient is pregnant.
